The draft bill suggests formulation of a national plan to implement standards and control measures, and adopt best practices in air quality management and monitoring to ensure clean air. There is also a provision in the draft act for conducting research on air pollution. While presenting the draft Clean Air Bill-2019, BELA Chief Executive Syeda Rizwana Hasan said it would not be possible to enforce the law with the existing resources of DoE. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin said the government is committed to enacting the law to check air pollution. As per its election manifesto, the Awami League government is taking various measures to check air pollution, he added.
