City resident moves to court to block Joho from Mombasa ballot


PHOTO | FILEA Nairobi resident has moved to court seeking to stop the electoral commission from gazetting and clearing Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho to defend his seat in the August 8 general election. He has sued Mr Joho, Mr Odinga, ODM, the University of Nairobi, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec). VIOLATING LAWHe wants the court to determine whether the IEBC will be violating the law by clearing Mr Joho and if the Mombasa governor has violated the Leadership and Integrity Act. He also wants the court to determine whether Mr Odinga, ODM, University of Nairobi and the IEBC ought to do due diligence before clearing Mr Joho. He also wants University of Nairobi, IEBC and Knec to be ordered to produce Mr Joho’s academic certificates in their possession.
