City orders College Street Bar to shut down following gang sex assault charges

College Street Bar has been ordered to shut its doors until May by the city after police allege a woman was sexually assaulted there by the owner and an employee. The Toronto Licensing Tribunal has ordered the bar, located near College St. and Manning Ave., closed beginning Feb. 1 through to May 12 at 10 a.m.Police allege that a 24-year-old woman was given drugs and alcohol at the west-end bar in mid-December, and was forced to stay inside and was sexually assaulted. The bar will remain closed to the public, and is also forbidden from running any courses or training. A sign will be posted on the door to signal the bar’s temporary closure. If the bar does not comply with this order, the city will affect an interim suspension of its license.
