Citizen scientists work to preserve Piako's forest gems


Citizen scientists are putting in the hard yards to help preserve Piako’s floodplain forest. Eighteen budding volunteers attended a training workshop at a kahikatea forest in February, led by Dr Norman Mason at Hawes Bush, Waharoa. Mason said the kahikatea forest in Piako occupies one per cent of its prehuman area.
