In several regions, there were HEIs that had their staff and academics continue with work that await finishing during the Christmas recess. Present day competition cannot allow an HEI to be a hostage to personal weaknesses, if any, of its constituents. So, like I did on the day after Christmas, I shall instead share with you how these holidays and a day or even a week after, are celebrated in other climes. On Christmas Day, many people will go on an ‘Alilo,’ a traditional Georgian Christmas song performed the night before Christmas during a religious procession. To Georgians, January 2 called “Bedoba” is “day of luck” and is indicative of what the New Year has for a Georgian.
