A man killed in a motorcycle crash on Christmas Eve on the South Island's West Coast has been named by police as Brent Willets. The 49-year-old died after being injured in an accident in Charleston, in the Buller District. Police said he was killed in an incident on a private property, so his death would not count towards the road toll.
