Walter (Wally) Hryciuk was an Ontario Court judge, a very good one apparently but a bit of an old-school guy, even then. A young female Crown attorney named Kelly Smith claimed that in a back hall of the Old City Hall courts, Hryciuk had grabbed her and French-kissed her. Back to the Hryciuk inquiry, where the best bit, by which I mean the most ludicrous, wasn’t even the absurd handshake analysis by MacFarland. It came in the person of Ontario Court judge Joe Bovard, who with his then new wife, court reporter Kelly James, was one of the add-on complainants. Bovard, who still sits on the Ontario Court, pronounced himself shocked and appalled by what he’d seen.
