American forward Christian Pulisic will join English Premier League side Chelsea next season for $73.1 million (£58m), the highest transfer fee for an American soccer player in history. Chelsea, which signed Pulisic after the Premier League transfer window opened on January 1, immediately loaned the player back to his current club, German giant Borussia Dortmund. He was reportedly on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including current league leader Liverpool. Chelsea is currently fourth in the Premier League, 11 points behind Liverpool. Christian has shown his quality during a fantastic spell in Germany, and at just 20, we believe he has the potential to become an important Chelsea player for many years to come," Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said in a statement on the team's website.
