A former Christchurch teacher was convicted of four charges in the Christchurch District Court after being charged in relation to a sexual relationship with a student. A former Christchurch teacher faces a potential jail sentence after having an unlawful sexual relationship with a 14-year-old. Daniel Bruce McMillan, 46, was working as a teacher at Christchurch's Kingslea School for youth offenders from 2014 to 2016 when the offending occurred. His sexual relationship with the student came to light when a mutual acquaintance found text and Facebook messages the teen and McMillan sent to each other. McMillan's relief position ended on the last day of the 2016 school term.
