Police took the baby pukeko to the local wildlife hospital. The South Island Wildlife Hospital has thanked the "well-trained, brave men and women" in the police force after two officers took care of a baby pukeko. Pukekos have no road sense," the wildlife hospital posted on Facebook. The officers brought the baby pukeko straight to the wildlife hospital, wrapped up in navy policy overalls. The pukeko was recovering well at the wildlife hospital, and has since been named SWAT.
