"If possible, I want to do better than I did today in the final tomorrow, and win a seventh title here." The Japan Open decider will be Chong Wei's 96th career Super Series final. This is the first time Axelsen will play Chong Wei this season. Their last match was at the Super Series Finals in Dubai in December, which was also the first time that Axelsen had beaten Chong Wei in 10 matches.
