Chloé Zhao makes Oscar history with ‘Nomadland’


Beijing-born filmmaker Chloé Zhao made history Sunday night as she became the first Chinese woman — and also the first woman of colour — to win Oscars for both Best Picture and Best Director. It was his second Best Actor award, the first was for “Silence of the Lambs” in 1991, and he’s now the oldest Best Actor winner ever. Mia Neal and Jamika Wilson shared the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award, the first Black women to win this category in Oscar history. He dedicated his Oscar win to her. It took just two Oscars: Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.
