Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) will allocate 88 decimals land to construct the five-storey slaughterhouse in the city's Chandgaon area. The Chittagong District Livestock Office, confirming the matter, said 100 cattle could be slaughtered at a time; while 300 cattle could be kept at the lairage of the abattoir. It will also provide training facilities for: consumers, butchers, cattle traders, cattle farmers, and veterinarians. “The existing practice of slaughtering and processing animals in the city can severely infect the meat with germs and other hazardous elements,” he added.
