Chittagong police boost surveillance after finding militant den at Mirsarai

There have been ‘block raids’ in the city besides a drive to gather information on people living in rented houses, said Chittagong Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Mina. But the police were involved in any major counter-terror operation in the port city during the past year. Two militant suspects were detained at Comilla’s Chandina on Tuesday after they hurled explosives at policemen who were checking a bus on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. The owner of the two-storey house, ‘Ridwan Manzil’, told police Mahmudul rented the lower storey on February after claiming he was businessman. All police stations in the city have been told to increase surveillance, said SP Mina.
