Police were called to the Riverhead property at 4pm on Monday (file photo). A child has drowned at a private property in Riverhead, north-west Auckland. A police spokeswoman said police were sent to the address in Riverhead around 4pm on Monday. The spokeswoman said police had no further information and the child's death would be referred to the coroner. Water Safety NZ said there were 13 preventable drowning deaths in Auckland in 2018.
