A man is set to appear in court for allegedly indecently assaulting a child at a school holiday programme at Alexandra Primary School. Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron of Queenstown said the 56-year-old Canterbury man was arrested and charged in regard to the alleged indecent assault and would appear in the Canterbury District Court on Thursday. Staff at the holiday programme, which was run by the Ministry of Social Development, noticed the man talking to a child on the playground on January 12, Det Sgt Cameron said. "The man’s behaviour appeared suspicious and staff did the right thing by calling police," he said. The Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education were told of the arrest and the incident, he said.
