Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha left Dhaka for Australia on Friday night. The chief justice went on a month’s leave beginning September 3 citing health complications. Appellate Division’s senior-most judge Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah was appointed acting chief justice in during Sinha’s the leave of absence. Ministers and ruling Awami League leaders criticised the chief justice for his observations made in the verdict scrapping the 16th Amendment. SK Sinha assumed office on January 17, 2015 as the country’s 21st chief justice.
