And so, on Tuesday night, the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians again to come within a win of the World Championship. This was supposed to be their year as they played in their first World Series since 1945, with a chance to capture their first title since 1908. Addison Russell tied a World Series record with six runs batted in by hitting a two-run double in the first and a grand slam home run in the third. Maybe the 38,116 Indians fans who filled the stands here knew the fate that awaited their team. They roared when their unlikeliest of World Series achievers took the field and howled as the giant left field scoreboard declared this was “Cleveland Against the World”.
