The warning was issued by Phairin Limcharoen, chief of the Chiang Mai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office. He said a southwest monsoon would pass over Chiang Mai during the period and it would trigger downpours that may cause flash floods and landslides. He said people living along rivers and canals and near mountains should be on alert.
