Khalkho was killed in 2011 in what police had claimed to be an encounter with Maoists in Balrampur district. Paikra also said that so far “no challan has been furbished before a court.” He said no rape case had been filed so far. In response, Paikra said that while a case has been registered, apart from the police station in-charge, police had been unable to identify any other accused personnel. The statement comes more than a year after a judicial panel probing Khalkho’s murder said she was killed in a fake encounter by policemen after “sexual intercourse where force was used”.
