Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal vice president candidate Abidul Islam Khan rejected the results as soon as they were announced. Chhatra Dal also protested against the election authority for an alleged instance in which “pre-filled” ballots in favour of the Chhatra Shibir-backed panel were found. There were also reports of Chhatra Dal protests in front of the Dhaka University Club over the alleged stuffing of ballots overnight. The Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir-backed candidates alleged that they were leaders and activists of their opposing political parties. Chhatra Dal VP candidate Abidul alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists had taken up “combat positions” in Nilkhet, Shahbagh and Chankharpul.
