Dresden prosecutor Wolfgang Klein told Die Zeit newspaper his office believes the video is genuine and is evidence in his office’s investigation. Die Zeit reported it examined the clip, and video shot shortly before on the mobile phone on which it was filmed, and confirmed it was from the August 26 protest. Legislator Patrick Sensburg, Mrs Merkel’s party’s intelligence expert, is calling for Mr Maassen to explain his evaluation to parliament.
