The opposition leader of 11th parliament expressed his condolences to the victims’ family members in a statement issued on Thursday. In the statement, the Jatiya Party chairman urged the government to determine the cause of this massive disaster, and bring those responsible to trial if tangible evidence of negligence is found. The press release was signed by Ershad's Deputy Press Secretary Khandaker Delwar Jalali. Jatiya Party Senior Co-Chairman Begum Rowshan Ershad and party Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga have issued similar statements expressing condolences.
