Charity forced to build PTSD centre as MoD refuses to help mentally ill veterans


It’s hoped a £2.4million centre being built with funds raised by the Royal Marines Charity will help stem an “epidemic” of suicides from battle stress. "A centre where they can get easily accessible help is just what is needed.”Due to open early next year, it is ideally placed near the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, Devon. The charity has raised just over £2million and needs £380,000 to complete work. Construction follows campaigns by veterans groups and the Sunday People to improve treatment for troops and veterans suffering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
