This followed hours of heavy rains and the arrival of upstream floodwaters. The overflowing river flooded houses and government offices from in front of the Muang Nonthaburi police station to the Bang Kwang Central Prison and the Corrections Department. Water levels on the Nonthaburi 1 road were between 20 and 50 centimetres high. The Muang Nonthaburi police station, which is located on a bank of the river, was inundated with water gushing from a drainage pipe that is connected to the river. Policemen had to build a flood embankment with sandbags around the compound and used a water pump to drain the water.
