President Maithripala Sirisena and Indian High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu offered floral tributes to a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. "Gandhi had a deep connection with Sri Lanka which is highlighted by his extensive travels all over the Island in 1927," the Indian High Commission said in a statement.
