A century-old bureaucratic error that put land earmarked for a national park into a pastoral lease is now being investigated. An area known as Riversdale Flats, near Arthur's Pass, has been included in the sale of the Mt White Station lease. "The reason the Riversdale Flats land status has not been resolved to date is due to the complexity," wrote Crown property manager John Hook. "We are looking at our options to resolve the complex land status of the Riversdale Flats.
