The federal government says the Census website was not attacked or hacked and no data was lost. The Bureau of Statistics and ASD briefed Mr McCormack, Mr Turnbull, Mr Morrison and cyber security minister Dan Tehan on Wednesday morning. "This was not an attack, nor was it a hack but rather, it was an attempt to frustrate the collection of Bureau of Statistics census data," minister Michael McCormack said. "No census data was compromised and no data was lost," Mr McCormack said. The Bureau of Statistics decided to shut down the census form to safeguard and protect data already submitted, the minister said.
