As we draw closer to what passes for fall in Florida, it’s time to celebrate a favorite holiday of many Villagers. If you’re drawn toward brats and beer, Oktoberfest in Spanish Springs is the place to be Tuesday. A resident parade, sponsored by The Villages Recreation and Parks Department, kicks off the event at 3:30 p.m. Later, the gazebo will be the center of the action with a variety of entertainers providing Bavarian-flavored music. Oktoberfest at Lake Sumter Landing starts at 5 p.m. Thursday. 179, The Villages Cheerleaders, the Prime Time Twirlers and German-themed food and beers.
