HOLY Week, the final week of the 40-day Lenten Season will start with the observance of Palm Sunday. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), in a circular, said that after the Mass, priests may go around the streets to bless the palms of the faithful who wait from their homes but without holy water. “In this case, those who follow the celebration on TV, there is no need for Holy Water to bless the Palm branches,” the CBCP said. It was called Palm Sunday because believers were all waving palm leaves when Jesus entered Jerusalem. Jerome Secillano, executive secretary, CBCP Permanent Committee on Public Affairs, on Saturday said that the shift to non-traditional practice of Palm Sunday and other activities during the Holy Week does not mean that it is less holy.
