Filipino World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero swiftly granted the wish of Cuban World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight champ Guillermo Rigondeaux to fight him. Rigondeaux, 40, told journalist George Ebro that he wants to fight Casimero, 30, in a unification bout possibly in March or April 2021. “[Casimero is] the one I want,” said Rigondeaux, who holds a 20-1 win-loss card with 13 knockouts. Meanwhile, Casimero, who carries a 30-4 record with 21 knockouts, is fresh from defending his WBO bantamweight belt with a third-round KO win over Ghanaian Duke Micah in September. The respective promoters of Rigondeaux and Casimero are yet to comment on the development.
