The Cape Cobras have formally been renamed Western Province following South African cricket's domestic restructure. "When the new domestic structure was announced, we took all the feedback we received from a number of stakeholders on board and the overwhelming sentiment was there was an emotional connection to the Western Province name," David Brooke, the Western Province Cricket Association's brand and sponsorship manager, said in a statement. The second division will consist of Border, Easterns, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and South Western Districts. Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that the Cape Town Blitz will become the Western Province Blitz for the country's premier domestic T20 tournament (Mzansi Super League). Therefore, we will be playing as the Western Province Blitz during the Mzansi T20, which means the WP brand will flow throughout all our domestic competitions.
