Mathira CDF boss released on Sh1m cash bail in Sh27m fraud case


Mathira CDF Manager William Mwangi Wahome has been released on a cash bail of Sh1 million after he denied conspiring to defraud the Nyeri County Government of Sh27 million. Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who is the first accused person in the case pled to the charges last week and managed to secure his release after processing a cash bail of Sh12million. Gachagua, Wahome and the other accused persons were jointly charged with a conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption. The other accused persons- Julianne Makaa, Samuel Murimi, Grace Wambui, Lawrence Kimaru and Irene Wambui- were granted a bond of Sh1 million or a cash bail of Sh500,000. Magistrate Rose Makhungu directed the accused persons to be remanded at Gigiri Police Station to allow them process their bail terms.
