Capacity at Lincolnshire energy-generating waste site to increase after plans approvedThe additional capacity at the North Hykeham site is expected to generate an extra 12,000 megawatt hours of energy per yearView Image The site on Paving Way, North Hykeham (Image: Google Maps)A plan to increase the capacity at an energy waste facility has been given the green light. ‌Members of Lincolnshire County Council’s planning and regulation committee approved the proposal to increase the capacity at the Lincolnshire Energy Waste Facility, Paving Way, North Hykeham by 20,000 tonnes – from 170,000 tonnes to 190,000 tonnes per year. ‌Councillors heard that the additional capacity is expected to generate an extra 12,000 megawatt hours of energy per year – enough to power between 3,000 and 4,000 homes per year. ‌He added: “The county’s own waste needs assessment identifies a clear and growing requirement for additional energy recovery capacity. I’m pleased that it does not involve an increase in the footprint of the site.
