SANDAKAN: A low turnout of audiences at political campaign ceramah in conjunction with the Sandakan parliamentary by-election and a lackadaisical mood among the electorate has caused a headache to the candidates. The number of packed crowds at the DAP ceramah just a year ago has now dwindled down as many empty chairs were seen at the party’s by-election ceramah here. Voters were also not impressed by the credentials of the two main candidates -- Wong and Tsen. The Sandakan seat comprises 39,349 voters, of which the population are made up of 51% Chinese and 45% Muslim bumiputra voters. Other than DAP’s Wong and Tsen of PBS, the three independent candidates are Hamzah Abdullah, Chia Siew Yung and Sulaiman Abdul Samat.
