Late that evening, when the hospital director reached out for help, the Galle Branch of the Sri Lanka Cancer Society also stepped in. The items were supplies routinely kept for cancer patients who travel long distances for treatment and arrive at the hospital with few personal belongings. “That night, those supplies were redirected to assist the rescued sailors,” he said.
