Canadiens put Michael Chaput on waivers to make room for Nate Thompson

The weekend trades have resulted in a major overhaul of the Canadiens’ fourth line. When the Canadiens face the Predators in Nashville on Thursday (8 p.m., TSN2, RDS, TSN 690 Radio) the likely fourth line will have Dale Weise and Nicolas Deslauriers flanking Nate Thompson. Weise and Thompson are also expected to see action on the Montreal penalty-kill unit, which ranks 21st in the NHL (79.3 per cent success rate). The Canadiens made room for Thompson on the 23-man roster by placing Michael Chaput on waivers Tuesday. The Canadiens placed Kenny Agostino on waivers Sunday to make room for Weise and he was claimed by the New Jersey Devils.
