Marie-Philip Poulin and Ann-Sophie Bettez padded their lead atop the Canadian Women’s Hockey League scoring table with a goal apiece as the Canadiennes defeated the Toronto Furies 4-1 on Saturday. Kim Deschênes and Karell Emard also scored for Montreal against Toronto, while Natalie Spooner spoiled Emerance Maschmeyer’s shutout bid late in the third period. Poulin leads the CWHL with 49 points in 24 games (23 goals, 26 assists), ahead of Bettez at 44 (17 goals, 27 assists). Montreal has a game in hand and will play the 0-23 Blades next weekend on the road. Montreal ends its season with games at Place Bell in Laval against the Markham Thunder on Feb. 23 and 24.
