Part of HMCS Chicoutimi's mission is to keep watch on shipping activity. About a dozen naval trainees aboard the HMCS Chicoutimi are working to earn their 'dolphins,' the official certification for submariners. Until that point, the ship's crew was unaware how close the Canadian sub had been. Life aboard a subAspects of the Chicoutimi's mission are shrouded in secrecy, but the 58 people aboard have little privacy themselves. One of the Royal Canadian Navy's goals for the current Chicoutimi mission is to show allies that its submarines are capable of taking on international roles beyond Canadian waters.
