Airlines in Canada could soon be under pressure from customers to improve their services as the federal government opens its skies to more competition from the Middle East. The reciprocal deal will allow Canadian carriers to send the same amount of flights to the Middle East. Countries including in the Middle East are trying to reach the "gold standard" with Canada, Gradek said. "I think you'll see much more presence by the Middle East carriers." Ottawa is allowing more flights from airlines in the Middle East including Saudia Airlines.
