Canada’s Evan Dunfee was awarded the bronze medal in the men’s 50 km race walk Friday, after Games officials disqualified a Japanese walker for bumping Dunfee on the race’s final lap. But Athletics Canada successfully lobbied for Arai’s disqualification after Arai bumped Dunfee on the last lap. Athletics Canada celebrated Dunfee’s retroactive podium finish on Twitter, but said they expected Japan to file a counter-protest.
