Back in 2014, Olivia Chow entered the Toronto mayoral race as the overwhelming front-runner. She also had recruited a veteran campaign team and some 6,000 volunteers, developed a “progressive” platform and touted her humble background. With less than six weeks to go before the June 26 voting day, the big question is whether Chow can avoid the same disastrous fate she ran into in 2014. In the final campaign weeks her poll numbers dropped rapidly — and never recovered. But, just like eight years ago, Chow is leading in the first polls, she’s championing progressive policies and talking up her immigrant background.
