The government has stepped up efforts to issue a projected 3.5 million Kenyans with IDs by June next year ahead of the election. “We have organised intensive mobile registration programmes in all counties,” the CS told the National Assembly committee on Implementation of House Resolutions. The CS said the government will ensure all those in the ‘registerable’ age are enlisted, to enable them register and vote. Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery yesterday told MPs in this financial year alone, about 1.5 million Kenyans are expected to turn 18 years old.
