CalMac boss sensationally admits ferry service is in 'chaos again' and one breakdown away from 'very difficult' time

Beleaguered CalMac's boss has sensationally admitted that the ferry service is "in chaos again" following the closure of a key port and that one more breakdown in the ageing fleet would "be difficult to cover." Chief executive Robbie Drummond made the stark admissions as islanders living on Arran struggle to get to the mainland. Problems date back to 2015 when two flagship ferries were announced to be built at Ferguson Marine to great fanfare. He said this will contribute to a "really challenging summer and for Arran particularly" and warned of sold-out sailings already on the route. On the peak summer weekends and peak times at Easter, sailings will be very difficult, so we are trying to spread that traffic across the week."
