Paul Robson, 50, killed Caroline Kayll, 47, in a brutal attack at her home in Linton, Northumberland, on November 15 last year. In his rage, he chopped off her hair in clumps and slashed her on the buttocks, a court heard. The boy told police in video testimony that he was upstairs looking at his mobile phone when he heard a commotion downstairs. The jury heard that Caroline had met Robson while she worked as a prison officer in Acklington prison, Northumberland, where he was a prisoner in 2018. They parted around September 2020, and Robson moved out to Wallsend, the jury heard.
