The Supreme Court has cleared the way to continue the murder trial of cadet college student Sharmila Shahrin Pollen at a lower court. Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha-led Appeallate Division bench upheld a High Court on Monday, rejecting a review plea filed by the accused. The High Court on April 6 ordered continuation of trial against five people including, Major Nazmul, in a Mymensingh court. The other accused are – Major Monir Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate Professor Abul Hossain, non-commissioned officer Md Osheruzzaman and hostel staff Hena Begum. Mymensingh Girls’ Cadet College (MGCC) student Pollen was found dead in the dormitory on February 11, 2005.
