State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked BMC chief Ajoy Mehta to carry out an investigation on files that went missing from the Building Proposals Department of the BMC since 2013. Shelar has demanded that the civic body complete the process of searching and restoration of the files within a set time. He added that the body should also declare how the files went missing. DNA had reported earlier last week that the BMC claimed to have traced or recreated most of the reported 3,747 files that went missing. Absence of these files means there is no available proof of approvals granted by the civic body and irregularities in the structure can go unchecked.
