Justice Misra sits in the court from 10.30am to late afternoon, sometimes till 4.30pm. Such misgivings had culminated in the four other collegium members holding a news conference on January 12 to complain over the manner in which Justice Misra was allocating cases. The Supreme Court too has only 24 judges, including the recently elevated Justice Indu Malhotra, against a sanctioned strength of 31. They are Justice Misra (October 2), Justice J. Chelameswar (June 22), Justice Kurian Joseph (November 29), Justice Madan B. Lokur (December 30) --- all belonging to the five-member collegium ---- and Justice Adarsh Goel (July 6). Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the third senior-most member of the collegium, will become the Chief Justice of India on October 3, a position he would hold till November 17, 2019.
