CIMB Thai net profits up 30 per cent year on year in first half


Kittiphun Anutarasoti, president and chief executive officer of CIMB Thai Bank Pcl, stated that according to the unaudited financial results for the first half of 2017, operating income was 1.6 per cent lower. The modified loan-to-deposit ratio was higher at 97.7 per cent compared to 92.4 per cent as on December 31, 2016. CIMB Thai Group’s loan loss coverage ratio increased to 84 per cent as on June 30 from 77.3 per cent at the end of December 2016. BIS ratio stood at 18.6 per cent, 13.2 per cent of which comprised Tier-1-capital. Net profit improved due to better NIM and lower operating expenses and provisions whilst operating income held relatively steady.
