more-inFour more police officers, including the North Paravoor circle inspector (CI), have been suspended from service in connection with the death of 26-year-old youth Sreejith, a native of Varappuzha, due to alleged custodial torture. Deepak, assistant sub-inspector Sudheer and civil police officer (grade) Santosh Baby have been suspended pending further inquiry by Vijay Sakhare Inspector general of Police, Ernakulam Range. Further, the Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner in Kochi has been directed to initiate an internal inquiry against these suspended officers. The department had earlier suspended three civil police officers, attached to the Armed Reserve Police camp, in connection with the case. These officers, suspended on account of official misconduct, were identified as Jithin Raj, Santosh Kumar, and Sumesh.
